My name is Dr. Kelly Slama-McManus.  I am a physician trained in pediatrics and have used my diverse interests within pediatric medicine to work in parenting education, general pediatrics, emergency medicine and behavioral pediatrics.  Through my experiences, I have gained perspective and knowledge allowing me to serve children and families in a variety of settings.

I have a degree in Psychology from Miami of Ohio University.  I graduate from Indiana University School of Medicine and then went onto complete my Residency in General Pediatrics at Indiana University based out of Riley Hospital for Children, Wishard/Ezkenazi Hospital and Methodist Hospital.   While there, I developed a special interest in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, and was awarded the Anne E. Dyson Child Advocacy Award as a result of my development of a novel parenting program for teen mothers.

My career has included 5 years in primary care pediatrics in Carmel, Indiana followed by 6 years in Pediatric Emergency Medicine in Indianapolis. Since the pandemic, I have devoted my professional time to working with Pediatric Mental and Behavioral health here at Axon Health Associates. As a physician and as a parent, I have seen our youth and my own children suffer from mental health difficulties.  I am familiar with the toll this takes on a family and the strength it takes to advocate for your child across multiple domains, including school.  My goal is to provide compassionate, family-centered care that will enable your child and family to thrive.  My focus is working with: family-child relationships/training, ADHD, anxiety, depression, special education advocacy, and the behaviorally challenging child.  I offer diagnosis guidance, medication management, collaboration with your psychologist or other mental health professionals, parent education and behavioral coaching based on CBT and Problem-Focused therapy.

When I am not working, I am a proud wife and mother of four children.  I enjoy traveling (especially to Northern Michigan), staying connected with my friends, gardening, and chasing after my dogs.  I am a proud volunteer for: The Indiana Health Fund, Girls on The Run, The Zionsville Swim Club, Boone County Dairy Promoters, and am a Certified Yoga for Children instructor.
