I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), and I have over five years of experience treating various psychiatric conditions across the lifespan. My journey in helping people who struggle with mental health issues started when I became a volunteer for the Lafayette Crisis Center during my undergraduate years at Purdue University. To have the privilege to be there with people in their most difficult moment was a very humbling and rewarding experience. Since then, my passion and mission has been to continue refining my knowledge and skills in helping people overcome their challenges and grow as individuals.
After graduating with a psychology degree from Purdue, I completed a master’s degree in counseling at Indiana University. After starting work as a counselor, I was able to witness the drastic improvement patients made after they were started on psychiatric medication. The desire to utilize this additional treatment modality along with a focus toward holistic treatment and prevention are what led me down the path of getting my second bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing.
After completing my MSN specializing in psychiatric and mental health nursing, I have worked in inpatient, partial hospitalization programs, and outpatient settings. My treatment approach is holistic, patient-centered, culturally sensitive and evidence-based. I believe that mental illness is more than just a set of symptoms. In order to truly get better, we have to identify the cause, and treat the mind, body, and spirit. I strive to build collaborative and transformative partnerships with my patients.
Aside from work, I can usually be found spending time with my wife and two children, pretending to be a runner, and cheering on the Liverpool Football Club.
